What is Corto?

A place appears and you tap where it is on the world map, as fast and as accurately as you can. A game is ten questions. Each scores up to 1,000 points, split between accuracy and speed, so a perfect game is 10,000.

How scoring works

Accuracy is most of your score: the closer your tap to the real location, the more you keep. Speed adds the rest on top. Accuracy is judged against the map you're on, so smaller maps demand sharper aim. After each question the map reveals the correct spot, so you learn as you play.

Packs and how to start

World Cities is free, along with 10 free learning packs covering the countries, states, and provinces of the world. Beyond those are 166 themed packs: cities, flags, airport codes, volcanoes, stadiums, world wonders and more, available individually or in bundles. Open the pack store from the main menu to browse, search, and unlock.

Multiplayer

Challenge a friend head-to-head through Game Center. You take turns: you play your round, they play theirs, and scores are compared at the end. You'll need to be signed in to Game Center on your device. There's no in-game chat. Your opponent does not need to own the pack: if you invite them to a match on a pack you own, they play it too.

Restoring purchases

New device, or reinstalled the app? Open the pack store and tap Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with, your packs come back at no extra charge.

Your name in multiplayer

Corto has no account and no player name of its own. In multiplayer your name is your Game Center nickname, which you change in the iPhone Settings app under Game Center. Everywhere else in Corto you are simply "You".

What's in Settings

Open Settings from the main menu (the gear icon):

Language. Corto follows your phone's language. Override it here, then fully close and reopen the app to apply.

Sound. On or off.

Reminders. Three separate nudges you can switch on or off independently: an evening one when your daily streak is still waiting on a game, a Saturday one when the week's set is started but unfinished, and a follow-up when a multiplayer game has been sitting on your move. Corto only asks permission the first time it actually has something to send.

Explore in 3D. Adds an Explore button on the reveal for a 3D look at the place. On for newer phones, off for older ones to keep play smooth. Change it anytime.

Restore Purchases. Also available here, not just in the pack store.

Accessibility

Corto supports VoiceOver labels on its controls and honors the system Reduce Motion setting. If something isn't working well for you, let us know. We want to fix it.

Troubleshooting

Scores or multiplayer not working? Check that you're signed in to Game Center in your device's Settings. A pack you bought is missing? Use Restore Purchases (above). Still stuck? Email us with your device model and iOS version and we'll help.
