Effective 10 July 2026
Corto is a geography game for iPhone. We built it to respect your privacy. In short: Corto does not collect your personal data, show you ads, or track you across other apps. The only thing we collect is anonymous, aggregate usage data that helps us improve the game — described under Analytics below.
This policy is about the Corto app. On this website we collect the launch email if you sign up, and anonymous, cookieless visit analytics. Both are covered under About the launch email and Website analytics below.
Your high scores, your player name, your settings (sound and haptics), and which packs you own are saved locally on your iPhone using standard iOS storage. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us or to any third party. Deleting the app removes it.
If you choose to sign in to Game Center, your Game Center display name, your scores, and the data needed to run a head-to-head match are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy, not by us. We never receive your Apple Account credentials. Signing in to Game Center is optional — single-player Corto works fully without it. You can read Apple's policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Packs and bundles are bought through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and we never see your card or payment details. The app only records, on your device, which packs you own so it can unlock them.
Corto uses PostHog, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand how the game is used in aggregate so we can improve it. We collect a small, deliberate set of product-interaction events — for example that a game was started or completed, that the pack store was opened, or that a pack was viewed or purchased — together with basic technical context such as the app version, device model, and operating system version.
The PostHog SDK also collects anonymous diagnostic data — such as crash reports and basic performance information — to help us find and fix problems and keep the game stable.
All of this data is anonymous. Corto has no accounts and creates no user profile: it is not linked to your name, your Apple Account, or any identifier that singles you out, it is never used to track you across other apps or websites, and it is processed in the EU. The app does not collect your personal data.
Corto contains no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites. We don't build an advertising profile of you and we never sell your data.
Corto is suitable for all ages. The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
If you sign up to be notified at launch, here's exactly what happens to your email address.
What we collect: your email address. Nothing else. No name, no tracking, no profile.
Why: to send you one email when Corto launches. No newsletter, no marketing, no second email.
Where it's stored: your address is held by Netlify, our website host, which stores form submissions in the United States under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long: we delete the list once the launch email has gone out. If Corto never launches, we delete it anyway.
Your choice: ask us to remove your address any time before then. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or just write to us.
Who we are: Corto is made by an independent developer in the Netherlands. Questions about your data go to corto_app@icloud.com.
To see how many people visit this site and where they come from, the website uses PostHog in a privacy-first way. It sets no cookies (data is held only in memory for the length of your visit), does not build a profile of you, does not track you across other apps or websites, respects your browser's Do Not Track setting, and processes data in the EU. It is used only in aggregate, to improve the site.
The website's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from a Google server when the page loads.
If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
