The short answers. For how to play and troubleshooting, see Support.
Yes. Corto is free to download and stays free. World Cities and ten learning packs are included at no cost and never expire. There are 166 further themed packs you can unlock if you want them, each a one-time purchase you keep forever.
No. Corto shows no ads of any kind, and never will. There is no ad network in the app, so nothing to tap away and nothing tracking you between apps.
No. There is no subscription in Corto and there never will be. Every pack is a lifetime purchase: buy it once and it is yours on every device signed in with the same Apple Account.
No. There are no lives, no energy meter, no timers to skip, no hints to buy and no consumables of any kind. Play as many rounds as you like, whenever you like. Money buys you more subjects to play, never a better score.
No. There is no Corto account, no password and no profile to create. You open the app and play. Progress syncs through your own iCloud account, and multiplayer uses Apple's Game Center.
Yes. Corto has head-to-head multiplayer over Game Center: pick Blitz (one round of five questions), Quick (two rounds of five) or Classic (three rounds of ten, 30,000 points possible). It is turn-based, so you play your round and your opponent plays theirs whenever they get to it. You both answer the same questions on the same clock.
No, and this is the part people do not expect. If a friend invites you to a match on a pack they own, you play the whole match on it without owning it yourself. One person buys a pack and both people get to play it. There is no second copy to buy and nothing to unlock before you can accept a challenge.
No. Corto has no messaging, no chat and no user-generated content anywhere in the game. In multiplayer the score does the talking.
Yes. Corto is rated 4+ with no violence and no adult content, no ads, no chat and no account to sign up for. Ten free learning packs cover the countries of every continent, US states, German states, French departments and Dutch provinces, which is the topography most curricula ask for. In those packs the place names are translated too, so they work in the language the class is taught in.
English, Dutch, German, French and Spanish. Not only the interface: all 177 packs carry translated names and descriptions, and in the free learning packs the countries, states and provinces are named in your language as well.
iPhone and iPad, running iOS 26.4 or iPadOS 26.4 or later. Corto is not available on Android, Mac or the web.
No. Corto needs an internet connection, because the map comes from Apple Maps and the map is the game. There is no offline mode. Your unlocked packs, scores and streak live on the device, so being offline never costs you anything you have already earned, but you cannot start a round without a connection.
177 themed map packs across twelve categories, holding more than 21,500 questions in total. Eleven of those packs are free. A pack is a subject: world capitals, volcanoes, F1 circuits, wine regions, WWII battlegrounds, the streets of Amsterdam. Categories run from Classic countries and capitals through Nature, Landmarks, Sports, History, Culture, Food and Drink, Power and Money, Trivia, City Streets, Wildlife and Eerie Earth. Browse them all.
About two minutes. A game is ten questions with ten seconds each, and each question scores up to 1,000 points on accuracy and speed, so a perfect game is 10,000.
After you answer, on 113 of the packs you can fly down into a tilted 3D view of the real place using Apple Maps, with a short line about what you are looking at. It is optional, off by default on older devices, and switched on or off in Settings.
Yes. Your unlocked packs, best scores, ranks and streak follow you between devices through your own iCloud account. A new phone or a reinstall picks up where you left off, and there is no account to create for it.
No. Open the pack store and tap Restore Purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with, every pack comes back at no extra charge.
